“Emmitt’s Homecoming Runs Into Second Act Problems” is the second Emmitt story from the Zezverse. (He’s first mentioned in “The Day Molly Got Into The Room”, but he doesn’t appear there.) In his first appearance, “Meeting the Creature”, he makes his acquaintance with Howard Zez. It doesn’t go well, and Howard still doesn’t know that Emmitt and Molly are a couple–though everyone else in their lives does.

In this story, Molly meets Emmitt’s family. It goes somewhat better than Emmitt’s encounter with Howard, which is not to say it goes swimmingly. Parts of this story are based loosely on incidents that took place with my family in New Orleans, but even though the real people involved are dead now, I still won’t say which ones. They’re more fun as fiction than as real life anyway.
