Even though there’s a lot to sort through from this week–the election and Philip Roth’s retirement from the page come to mind–my Dad’s death on Thursday will keep me quiet for a while. Dad died peacefully in the early morning.

I won’t claim that I’m inconsolable or that I can’t go on. I seem to be going on. It’s just that the landscape seems so alien without my Dad in it. My concentration is off, and while I’m pretty sure I’m making sense, it’s only because my messages are brief and simple.

So I won’t be blogging much or engaging social media often over the next few days. Feel free to enjoy the rest of the Internet in the meantime.
