I’ve started writing the party sequence of my novel-in-progress. Those who think they know me will point out that my usual approach to partying down is to say as little as possible and to show enthusiasm only when an opportunity to vamoose presents itself.

Actually, I’m barrels of fun: my apparent stand-offishness has been in aid of the twenty-plus years of research I’ve put into my point-of-view character. All those hours I spent at your last party standing in the corner checking my Twitter was just me mapping out Natalie’s emotions and living them.
