So Over It Contest #15: Street Corner Edition

No winner for last week’s contest (sigh). The correct answer was the University Bridge connecting the University District to Eastlake in Seattle. It was dedicated on April 7th, 1933 by Franklin Roosevelt.

This week’s contest concerns a street corner somewhere in the United States. This street corner was much in the news a couple of days before Independence Day, 1881. Be the first to name the location (on Twitter, on the Facebook page, or here in comments) and the event I’m talking about and win signed copies of both Dismantle the Sun and Blood Promises and Other Commitments.

G’luck.
